As Friday Approaches…

I decided to share a little poem that I wrote about Starbucks while in one of my creative writing classes. With Black Friday only a day away, I thought it might be a bit fitting. Please enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Life of Starbucks

The sun slowly rises up from the east,

chasing the dark of night away.

The store of Starbucks bustles about,

preparing for a new day.

The life of Starbucks bursts to life

each morning at the hour of six,

people hurry inside restless and tired

in need of their morning fix.

They wait anxiously scanning the menus

For the perfect mix of chocolate mocha and espresso,

Glaring at the ones standing in front

Taking minutes to decide on a cup of Joe.

The workers do not have this freedom,

to show their angst, exhaust, or irritation.

They must give a wide smile of teeth, a voice of kindness,

and a warm gentle invitation to each guest.

They work hard trying not to complain,

taking breaks only when needed,

memorizing recipes of many drinks

to inform customers as they are greeted.

As one sits in silence sipping her latte

inhaling the fresh aroma of coffee beans,

She can only imagine the work and effort

Put in by the starbucks working teams.

As winter approaches…

With winter coming so soon, I thought it would be fun to post a poem about fall before the season ends. The poem was on that I wrote back when I was still attending college, in one of my literature classes. We were required to take a picture of something outside out in nature and then write a poem about it. Below is my poem and it is called “Leaves.”

Fall has come once more

saying farewell to the warm summer breeze,

the cool crisp wind awakens the forests

pulling the leaves from the trees.

The leaves blow about to and fro

gliding together in a huddle,

they pass by the branches floating downward,

landing softly into a puddle.

Together they float in colors of orange

red, green and brown,

as people shuffle side by side,

not caring to gaze at the ground.

Although they soak, in the water that they float

there is no feeling of sorrow or grief,

for I had paused, just briefly to see,

the beautiful sight of the leaves.

Intriguing new series “The Witches of East End”

I must say that I have become quite interested in the new show “The Witches of East End.” I have always had an interest in magic and witches, so it is nice to see a show that incorporates both. I also found out that the show is based on the novel by Melissa de la Cruz, so naturally, I would really like to give it a read. Then again if I do, it might ruin the show for me. Anyways, I really like the way the show is going. I would definitely like to learn more about Ingrid and Freya’s past lives and exactly what happened to their mother that caused her to leave their brother behind and escape through the portal to Earth without him. The show has so much potential and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the viewers!

On another note, I think I will begin to post some of my writing. I think I might start with some short stories or poems. When I do start posting my short stories, I think I will post the longer stories a little at a time. Some of them are a bit long and I feel that they will be read better in shorter parts. Until then, I shall take my leave after leaving this quote:

“Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”

-E.L Doctorow

Reaching High

Sometimes it is so hard to stay positive. There have been so many times that I just wanted to give up, but I keep telling myself to take a deep breath and keep moving forward. Even though my father does not believe in me, I know I will prove him wrong. Someday I will reach my goal of becoming a published author. It is only a matter of time. So until then, I will work hard and keep reaching high.

Sunday Mornings

Normally I dislike Sunday mornings. They just remind me that in 24 hours I will be sitting back in my class for the next 5 hours. Even though I have graduated from college, I still get that familiar feeling. However, today when I woke up, I felt different. I stared out of my bedroom window and felt a sense of peace. It was cloudy, but concealed behind one of the grey clouds, was the sun shining. It made me start to believe that maybe behind all the pain and suffering there is still some hope for things to get better.

Birthday Thoughts

Today, I turn 24; another year older, another year wiser. As I blow out the candles, I wonder to myself, what is it that I want to be? Where is it that I want to go? Who do I want to become? These are all questions that must be answered in time I suppose. Only in time.

Hello and welcome to my blog! This is my first official post. I have never blogged before, so this is a new experience for me and I am excited! So, a little about myself. As you can probably tell from my first post, I am a writer. My dream is to one day publish a novel and with a lot of work and effort, maybe someday it will happen. Until then, I will be focusing on improving my writing and brainstorming more stories! As time goes on, I may branch out and create more focused blogs where I discuss other things, but for now, this blog will be focused on my daily thoughts during the day, reviews of movies and novels and different stories that I have written. Maybe as time goes on, I will have a more focused blog for my stories. Until then, please enjoy!
